To serve and glorify the Lord

Published:Oct 9, 2018

If we have to serve God and glorify Him, then we have to rise above the mindset and feelings that don’t allow us to do so. For example, if by getting angry and disappointed the mindset gets afflicted with sadness and remorse rendering us unable to experience the joy and cheerfulness to serve God and do our job happily, then we have to rise above anger and protect our mind from getting disappointed. Some things we do, some things we say sometimes give rise to bitterness in family, workplace, etc. Those things could have been easily avoided if we had only taken more care and thought of the consequences to follow. But not preventing those from happening we allow ourselves to get affected by the outcome and waste hours staying affected by the results that ensue. During these times when we stay affected by unpleasant outcomes at home from the conversation with the spouse or from the conversation with the boss at the workplace, we bereft ourselves from the joy state of mind and give into bitterness and remorse. And that in turn renders us unable to serve and glorify the lord. So when we know that the world, including our homes, is filled with people who are not so patient and cordial with their way of talking and behaviour, we should never expect the same from them and never allow ourselves to get affected by them. If something we say or do that gives rises to such situations, then we should be very cautions to not do so. We should show more patience and love while dealing with others as they themselves cannot do so. As followers of the good God, we are capable of showing love and patience that the worldly people cannot. So instead of expecting certain set of loving and cordial behaviour from worldly people, let us remain firm on our faith and treat others with love and kindness so as to save ourselves from the bitterness that may ensue if we get angry with the worldly people or even try to get even with them. For our purpose is not to get love and affection from the worldly people, be he or she be our own spouse, but to serve and glorify the Lord through our own acts of love and kindness.
