Taking Rest

Published:Jan 29, 2019

It is very easy to get entangled in the day to day affairs of life so that one may forget he or she has a life to live. Taking burden of workload arising from job and home it is very easy for one to forget that life is not all about work even if work fills most part of it. There will always be some work to be finished, deadline to be matched, goals to be accomplished, etc. but amidst all these life is not only about work, it is also about rest. For without proper rest, proper work can not be done. The importance of rest is such that even God rested on the seventh day after creating the world. It is in God’s good will that we should also rest on the seventh day keeping it holy. That’s why we have Sunday as a holiday. Interim periods of rest and vacations allow us to connect and communicate with our inner self and God since we get the time to do so out of our every day busy life. When it is in God’s perfect plan for us to rest from time to time taking a break of our day to day life, the question we must ask ourselves is why we are depriving ourselves from the rest we need? What keeps us awake at night, what makes us work on Sabbath, what pushes us to work without taking rest? Is it greed to get more or is it to fulfil some work milestones? Whatever it may be, making proper analysis and plan we must extract out time for taking proper rest. For life is not all about working, but also about living.
